Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux

Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux is among the smallest appellation of Bordeaux, located on East of the Libournais.

With 525 hectares of vineyard, the appellation produces around 26 000 hl of red wines per year and a very small quantity of dry and mellow white wines.

Like in the whole Libournais, Merlot is the dominant grape variety used for red wines, it is often blent with Cabernet-Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. White wines are a blend of mainly Sémillon with Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.

Full-bodied, the reds are rich, tannic and well structured. Vivid in attack, white wines evolve with elegance.

The soils of the appellation combine clay-limestone, limestone and molasse.
